I read an article a long time ago that has always stood out to me.
It only takes a few minutes to read it but it’s really good. (It’s written by Kevin Kelly, who founded Wired Magazine.)
The concept is a great concept.
But how do you actually PRACTICE and IMPLEMENT the concept?
Well, let’s focus on one little sliver of this pretty little idea…
In the article, Kevin says:
“If you lived in any of the 2 million small towns on Earth you might be the only one in your town to crave death metal music, or get turned on by whispering, or want a left-handed fishing reel.
Before the web you’d never be able to satisfy that desire. You’d be alone in your fascination. But now satisfaction is only one click away. Whatever your interests as a creator are, your 1,000 true fans are one click from you.
As far as I can tell there is nothing — no product, no idea, no desire — without a fan base on the internet. Every thing made, or thought of, can interest at least one person in a million — it’s a low bar. Yet if even only one out of million people were interested, that’s potentially 7,000 people on the planet. That means that any 1-in-a-million appeal can find 1,000 true fans. The trick is to practically find those fans, or more accurately, to have them find you.”
He’s right, it’s kinda that simple. Find the fans, they’ll find you more fans.
Here’s the process:
1. Pick the fans you want to talk to. (The more specific you are, the more likely you are to make money.)
2. Find those fans. (As Kevin said, they’re only one click away.)
3. Keep in contact with these fans to deepen the relationship and sell them stuff they want to buy. (Email is the best way, in my experienced opinion, to do that.)
This is pretty much the exact process I’m gonna walk you through in the One Hour Workday.
We’ll focus on selecting the right fan base, growing that fan base, then sending them emails in a way that makes them love you and buy from you.
We will START out by finding your 1,000 true fans. (If you already have thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of fans, this product will be easy to ROI.)
The average email list “industry standard” makes $1 per subscriber per month.
I average $11 to $22 per person per month on my list. Now, that’s not normal. I don’t expect the same results for you.
But with the methods I’ll teach you, it’s not uncommon to make $5 per month per subscriber. Maybe even $10.
That means you can make six figures from just 1,000 subscribers. Remember, I made $55,000 from a list of 200 people in my first year online.
I’m obviously biased towards using email to make a living online, but that’s cuz it works.
